The Oregon Boating Foundation was founded in 2007 by members of the
Yaquina Bay Yacht Club
for the purposes of supporting boating education programs.
For the next several years, the primary purpose of the OBF was to
provide material support for the Yacht Club’s High School Sailing
program.
However, in 2015 Tom Murphy brought his kayak program under the
umbrella of the Oregon Boating Foundation, and Joe Novello
formalized our youth sailing program. The result was that the
organization began to take on a wider role in our community. Today, the Oregon Boating Foundation offers a variety of adult and
youth boating programs, including
guided kayak tours,
youth camps,
kayak classes, and
free family boating events.
We also provide material support for other programs through
partnerships with the Port of Toledo, the Lincoln County School
District, and the Yaquina Bay Yacht Club. We are always striving to
provide affordable, safe boating opportunities for the residents of
Lincoln County – and beyond.
Our mission is to get you out on the water safely.
Oregon is home to some spectacular waterways, and on-the-water
safety is a major concern for our city, our county, and our state. Our vision is that everyone has access to safe boating
opportunities and education.
